Bovin

The Bovin Winery is relative new winery. It was established in 1998. That year the winery produced 120 000 bottles of high quality red and white wines and first sucsses come instantly at first "Agro-Expo Fair -Skopje" where the red wine "Venus" earned "THE CHAMPION TITLE" in category of red wines and all other wines were awared with gold medals.

Bovin continued to grow and the winery increased production from 120 000 bottles in 1998 year to 250 000 bottles in 1999 year. Production was double it in 2000 year to 500 000 bottles and has continually grown to reach an overall annual output of 1 million bottles of wine. Today the total capacity of Bovin winery is 1.5 milion bottles of wine.

Bovin owns 60 hectares of prime vineyards in Tikvesh wine district. The Tikvesh district has approximately 11,000 ha of grapes, which represents about one third of the total vineyard area of Macedonia. It is the driest area of Balkan Peninsula with a total annual  rainfall of 500-600 liters per square meter and daily temperature during July and August is regularly around 40ºC.

With a deep plowing layer, the rich soils supply the grapes with a constant supply of water. Gentile north winds provide natural protection to the grapes. The Negotino wine region, which is part of the Tikves wine region, has around 5000 hectares of vineyards, and around 2000 hectares of those vineyards are with the grape variety Vranec. The altitude of the vineyards in this region is mostly between 100 meters and 450 meters, but in some places can reach up to 600 meters. Most of the soil types are Rendzina (humus- carbonate), then Smolnik, Diluvium and insignificantly Alluvium.

Bovin vineyards which are situated in the locality Lepovo just 6.5 km from Bovin winery at altitude of 350m and with grape varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Vranec, Cabernet Franc, Shiraz, Sangiovese , Petit Verdot and Tempranillo from the reds and Chardonnay, Muscat Temjanika, Pink Traminer, from the white grapes. Bovin winery also has Plums a and Sour Cherries.

Bovin produces the finest grapes in Macedonia. 

Bovin wines are produced 80% from grapes picked from its own vineyards and 20% from selected vine plantations with the use of environmentallyfriendly vineyard practices that are protected only once or twice at most during vegetation. This coupled with carefully controlled fermentation and Bovin production style with modern production equipment, makes Bovin wines among the most exclusive and highly valued wines in the Republic of Macedonia.

Approximately 70% of the production is red wine and 30% is white wine. All the wines are of high quality and are sold only in bottles of 0,75l and also some wines are bottled in 0,25l and 0,187l.

Bovin wines can be categorized in Classic, Superior, Premium and Dessert wines.

Classic red wines are: Vranec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir and the blends Alexandar and Venus.

Classic white wines are: Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Riesling, Muscat Temjanika, Traminec, Dissan White and the blend Symphony.

Classic rose wine is: Blend Ana Marija

Superior wines are : Cabernet Sauvignon Superior, Merlot Superior, Syrah-Shiraz, Sangiovese,
Tempranillo, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Kleopatra and the blend Daron.

Premium wines are: Imperator and the barrique wines Dissan Barrique, Cabernet Sauvignon Barrique and Merlot Barrique from the reds and and Chardonnay Barrique from the white wines.

Dessert wines are: Traminec Late Harvest a white and Vranec Late Harvest a red wine and also the blend Premier a red wine.

Besides wine, Bovin also produces 3 brandies – Bovin Natural Yellow Grape Brandy, Sv. Trifun Fine Rakija, Sv. Trifun  Premium Rakija, Cherry Brandy – Visnovka and a Wine Cooler “3”.

Wine Awards

Seven years Bovin was a champion at the "Agro-Expo Fair -Skopje" for the red wines and at the Belgrade fair “World of Wine” winning grand gold medals, thus becoming the overall winner of the Fair. The Winery achieved its highest  success at the “Food and Wine” Fair 2000 in Copenhagen, Denmark, where the wine “Pinot Noir” was proclaimed absolute winner – Grand Prix in competition of more than 650 types of wines from France, Spain, Italy, Chile, Argentina, California, South Africa and others.
